Budinger carries No. 1 LBSU to win
With his seven blocks, Budinger now has 299 in his 49er career, a mark which ranks No. 14 all-time at LBSU. Right ahead of him at No. 13 spot with 300 career blocks is coach Alan Knipe. Budinger also recorded his 800th career kill. Setter Tyler Hildebrand recorded seven blocks to go along with four kills and 35 assists, and Paul Lotman and Teddy Liles both recorded four blocks. Lotman and Liles both added seven kills while senior Robert Tarr finished with eight kills and four digs. Libero Tyler Caldwell led the 49ers with nine digs. The Tritons (0-1, 0-1) gave up too many easy points to the 49ers, thanks to numerous errors. UCSD committed a total of 44 errors in the match, which in turn led to 44 points for LBSU. UCSD had 28 hitting errors, 11 service errors, one blocking error and four reception errors.
