Travel agencies said the area has been shut down to foreign visitors until after April and even expects visas into Tibet to take up to ten days to receive approval. A Beijing Youth Travel Service saleswoman Li Jianyue told the source that the government verbally ordered agents to cease travel plans into Tibet, News.com reported.”A few days ago, they told us not to organise the foreign groups this month,” Ms Jianyue said. However, Jardin Secret Hotel receptionist told the source that it is likely that the ban could last up to three months.”This has grown into a yearly practice around March 14 every year,” the woman who wished to remain anonymous said. However, a few extra months is slim compared to the 12 month implement by the government after the 2008 riots which left up to 22 people dead. last_img
